My goal was to go directly into High School Honors Spanish. A friend referred me to Speak Spanish Live, and I was hooked. With my past knowledge of the language and 7 of the 10 lessons, I felt comfortable enough to take the test/interview to enter Honors Spanish 3. I never could have done it without the support of Sra. Rosales and Speak Spanish Live's excellent program.Toni-......................................................................... Rosales actually designed an individual curriculum that helped my daughter achieve her goal of taking Honors Spanish III in high school. Travel Abroad Immersion-Our three teenagers stayed with Rosalinda and her family during a service and language study trip to Guatemala. Rosalinda and her family were welcoming and gave our children the opportunity to experience life in a traditional Guatemalan household. The home that Rosalinda shares with her family is very tranquil, safe, and well run. Our teenagers were well fed and felt right at home from the beginning of their stay. This is a unique experience for anyone who would like to see how differently and not so differently people from other cultures live. I have been visiting Central America for many years and have numerous times attended Spanish Schools under an emersion program for 1 or 2 weeks at a time. When I returned to the US I found that I failed to use what I had learned and so over the next year I forgot most of it. I began taking classes with SpeakSpanishLive in the hopes of both refreshing my Spanish during the year and, with luck, actually improving it. Learning to speak Spanish was the furthest thing from my mind – retired, nearly 60 years old and just enjoying life. Studying a new language just seemed like too much work, especially since I had no real need for speaking Spanish at this stage of my life. Then, I was given the opportunity to participate as a pilot student, using SpeakSpanishLive.com. I finished the first ten classes – it was a wonderful experience! The one-on-one live video conferencing offered under this web site is easy to navigate, and communicating with a Spanish teacher from Guatemala is exciting and fun. The beginner lesson plans are easy to understand and presented in a logical order, first learning often-used phrases and vocabulary, then moving on to numbers, masculine/feminine articles, and verb components. The teacher is excellent! She has a wonderful personality, a warm smile and always provides encouraging words and laughter to make the lessons light and friendly. In summary, my experience with SpeakSpanishLive.com has been fun and exciting, and studying again at my age has made me eager to learn more and more.
