Welcome to SpeakSpanishLive.com! I am Rosalinda Rosales Carranza, your personal instructor for learning Spanish. I have spent the majority of my professional career teaching the Spanish language to people from around the world. Students have traveled to Guatemala to study my native language for many reasons to include work, university studies, and simply to enhance travel experiences through

communication. Technology has opened a new world of possibility for me. Now, I can teach students as they sit in the comfort of their homes, while I instruct from the comfort of my home.
I was born on October 6, 1961, in Antigua Guatemala, and have lived here my entire life. I am the oldest of four, with two brothers and one sister. I live with my Mom, my sister and her son, who is the light of our lives. Severely disabled, my nephew needs 24- hour care, requiring at least one of us to be at the house at all times. My home is a home of women. Every day, we face the fight for life, working hard, and sharing the responsibility of providing food, clothes and other necessities. My Mom, my brothers and my cousins are a fundamental part of my life. We are a close family that enjoys the good times and endures the bad. We live a happy life, making the very most of every moment we share together. When students from abroad live in our home, we share the color of our culture, open our hearts and hope that while they are here, they feel at home.
I received my teaching degree in 1981, and immediately began working as a language teacher at one of the more than one hundred language schools here in Antigua. Native Guatemalans speak a very pure form of Spanish, which has made the charming town of Antigua an international hub for Spanish Language Studies for more than 20 years. I bring to you more than 26 years of experience teaching Spanish to people from all over the world.
My method of teaching guarantees that you will develop the ability to speak Spanish correctly. There are seven essential steps required in gaining fluency. The steps are in a very specific order. One by one, they build upon one another, providing a strong foundation that is continually reiterated as you progress from a beginner to an advanced student.
I have developed my method of teaching over the last 26 years by observing students’ learning habits and progress in gaining fluency. It is a proven method!
I have spent a tremendous amount of time studying and practicing English. My knowledge of the English language is instrumental to my success in teaching Spanish to English-speaking students. I can quickly explain concepts and provide correlations, allowing a fast-paced learning environment.
I also spent five years pursuing an advanced Law Degree. This gave me a strong foundation in economics, politics, Guatemalan history, grammar, and human rights. This education has proven very useful in teaching Spanish, as I can converse on a variety of subjects and explain many interesting facts about Guatemala. In addition, I can tailor the learning experience to each student, focusing on vocabulary that is most critical to his or her needs. For example, if the student is a medical doctor, we focus on medical terms throughout the process of learning the mechanics of the language.
My goal as a teacher is to transfer my knowledge to the student in a logical manner, making the learning process fun and easy. I gain the greatest satisfaction from hearing my students reading, conversing, answering questions, translating, or explaining their thoughts in Spanish. Witnessing their evolution as they successfully master the language is priceless!
